Weather:

Beautiful close to 70°, windy this morning and overcast this afternoon.  The snow is melting quite quickly now.  I can’t believe how fast it has melted these two days.

Plantings:

Direct Sowed:

  • Spinach
  • Radishes
  • Snap Peas

Activities:

I cleaned out the raised beds, which was pretty easy.  There is garlic coming up where I planted it last October.  I cleaned up the tomato plants that I didn’t remove last fall.  Clipped back the herbs.  There is still a lot to do and my strawberries look pretty sorry right now, so I hope that they look better when I get back.

Miscellaneous Notes & Observations:

This will probably be my last post before I go to California.  So see around the 27th of April. We are supposed to have some rain for the next couple of days which will be good news.

Four days and counting…

On the 17th I am going to California to visit my best friend Carole for 10 days.  We found a cheap ticket on Southwestern for $161.00 which she has paid for.  It is a direct flight, which is nice.  You can’t get any where from Spokane without a layover so this is perfect.  I am looking forward to this vacation, after the long and snowy winter it will be good to get away.

We don’t have any plans but there are a lot of geocaches around where she lives so we will probably do those.  All within hiking distance from her house or just a short drive.

Hopefully, when I get back ALL OF THE SNOW will be gone.  That will be nice.  Since the snow was so late in melting this year, I hope more emphasis on building and cleaning up the vegetable garden.  Next year I won’t leave until after memorial day. From March end to April  is really seed starting season.

While I am gone I know the snow will melt and the ground will settle.  I should be able to start working in earnest in the garden then.  I have a composter that I want to put in the garden just haven’t figured out where to place it.

So many plans, so little time and money.
