We awoke to a new 6 inches of snow this morning.  Yesterday, Richard went to town to get some chicken feed, when he got home he just parked the car in the usual spot thinking we could take the feed to the barn in the morning. Sorry, not so easy. With the new batch of snow not much was moving about the place.

Since the truck is in need of a new battery, we were afraid that it wouldn’t start but it did and Richard was able to get the snow patted down by driving over it.  Another surprise was the the temperature has gone up to 34° which means it is no longer snowing but raining cloud_rain which I am not sure about, it is going to make all this snow mushy.

We did get the feed to the barn and the chickens fed.  That was pretty much our Sunday.

While it snowed and snowed last night and today, I have spent a good deal of time figuring out why my blog kept having fatal memory errors.  This afternoon I finally figured out what was causing the problem it has to do with PHP and allocated memory.  The next step was how to figure out how to correct the problem, which after a lot of trial and error I found a solution. I don’t know if it is a permanent fix, time will only tell, so for now I am up and running again.  Thru all of the uninstalling and reinstalling of Wordpress  I picked a new theme.  Hope that you like it - I do.

It must have dropped about 6 inches last night.  We didn’t really get that much more snow during the day and hopefully tonight will not bring any more. We had some trouble getting Richard’s car out but finally got it out.  Richard then drove the truck up and down the driveway to get the snow patted down.  Now it has warmed up to 34°, all we’ll now have is rain and I am not sure that is any better.

Be sure to check out the new sideblog "Washington Trivia"  I have had this book since last Christmas and I finally figured out how to use it on the blog.  Actually it is pretty silly but fun.

From my very messy desk, I wish you a good night.

The snow that is, we had our first snowfall on Tuesday and received about two inches.  Thursday was the next storm that can through but it was well south of us and of Spokane.  This winter storming warning came out yesterday saying snow would start late this evening and continue through late in the day on Monday.  Not exactly promising news.  It is 3:00 PM and it has all ready began snowing. smile_confused

I bought snow tires for my car in November, I decided to go with what they call siped tires rather that the traditional studded tire.  Studded tires are hard on the road, but you really need something more than an all weather tire outer in the reaches of Spokane County.  They do a pretty good job of keeping the highways cleaned but once you get to the city only major roads are cleaned.  They are no where as good in this area of cleaning the snow off the roads as they would be say in Chicago.  I don’t think that Spokane County has the financial strength to handle the massive movement of snow.  In downtown Spokane they pile the snow in the middle of the road making the streets one lane in each way.  And Deer Park does not really plow the roads at all.  Lucky for us the county cleans our gravel road and the main road into to town.  They actually are pretty good about that.  So we will have a White Christmas.

Crush, the kitty, has been good about coming in at night.  Why should I be surprised that the cat is not stupid and has enough sense to come in from the cold.  I still worry about him getting to far from home and getting caught by a coyote I suppose that is me being stupid not the cat.
