Weather:
Spring is on its way. We have cold mornings and the days are warming to the high 50’s. With daylight saving time we have dark mornings again. All of the snow has melted with a few exceptions.
Plantings:
Have started Leeks and Tomatoes this weekend. I am a late on starting the leeks so will have to see how that goes. I am about 9 weeks out on my tomatoes. Started 3 seeds of both the Brandywine and Sugar Snack Hybrid. If the seeds don’t work I’ll purchase plants.
Activities:
I cleaned out the raised beds in the garden and I am going to add some chicken manure that I have collected from the chicken coop. The raised beds are ready to plant the soil is very workable now. I will start to direct seed in about 4 weeks.
Miscellaneous Notes & Observations:
I was looking at my raspberry bushes and I am a little worried about how well they survived the winter. I don’t know if they rotten or the moles got to them. Time will tell.
The chickens are doing well and still giving me about a dozen eggs a day.
