Weather:
We have had about 4 inches of snow since Saturday. The weather has warmed and the snow is now slushy. Not much fun to walk in. Yesterday the wind picked up some but was calm today.
Plantings:
None
Activities:
No activities outside. Did receive two nice Christmas presents for the garden. The first was heat pad that you put your seedlings on so that they will have a good heat source to sprout quickly. The second item is nice to intensive gardening, a hand held seeder where you can drop just one or two seeds in a small hole.
Miscellaneous Notes & Observations:
The younger chickens have picked up speed on laying eggs. I got 5 today, they are still fairly small but that will change. The Rosemary plant I moved into the garden house is doing pretty well. The greenhouse is staying fairly warm with the small heater I have in there.
It is interesting to note that the snow is falling off the barn roof more than when the wood shingles were there. I noted that both the outside doors to the chicken coop are impassable because of the large drifts of snow in front of them.

Boy, did little Orange Crush give us a scare. Thursday morning Richard let him out and by noon, no Crush. Crush usually goes out for a while and then comes back in. Thursday evening when I got home still no Crush. Richard and I thought that maybe he had met an unfortunate end as there are many creatures out there that can cause harm. This morning Crush was at the front door mewing to get in at around 5:00am. He was hungry but none the worse for wear. He is now sleeping on the chair in the living room like he had never left the house. Needless to say, Crush is off the the vets on Monday morning. Maybe that will remove some of his wanderlust.
We had a wind storm Thursday night through Friday morning. This may have been part of the reason Crush didn’t come home on Thursday evening he may have holed up somewhere. Anyway, I woke up Friday morning about 3:30am and the electricity was off, I woke Richard up and asked what he thought I should do. We decided to go back to bed, wouldn’t you know it the electricity came back on at 4:36am. We did have a small tree down on the driveway which Richard made quick work of.
While the temperatures have been above normal for the last week, it appears that we are going back to the normal temperatures of low thirties-twenties.

Weather:
It has warmed up and the snow is melting. We are supposed to get a rain/snow mix for the next few days. Hoping for snow for Christmas.
Plantings:
None
Activities:
Decorating for Christmas. Really not up too much, I have been going through my recipes and trying to organize them.
Miscellaneous Notes & Observations:
The chickens have still not settled down since the addition of Romeo the rooster. I did get them a heated dog water dish cause their regular water was freezing. It appears to be working cause they were drinking out of it this evening when I put them in the coop for the night. No eggs today.

Christmas Tree
Filed Under Journal | Leave a Comment

I decorated the tree on Saturday evening. I used only my favorite ornaments, I am pleased with the way it turned out. I still have a few more ornaments to put on the tree but will save that for next weekend. I wrapped all of Richard’s presents and put them under the tree, it is starting to look like Christmas.
I pulled out my Christmas china and put it on the buffet. It is out where we can use it for dinner on the nights that Richard is home for dinner.
I have put Mom’s Santa that she made for us on the dinning room table. I had a red table cloth on the table for a while then decided that the cat might pull the whole thing off so I took it off. I will put it on Christmas weekend when I am home to watch.
That little Santa is so cute I just love him.
