Can Red Wine Keep You Thin?

From WebMD
Nov. 1, 2006 - Drinking red wine may help defend against a fatty diet and help obese people live a longer, healthier life.
A new study shows obese, middle-aged mice fed a fatty diet supplemented with resveratrol, an antioxidant found in red wine, seemed to be spared most of the unhealthy effects of their extra weight and lived longer than those fed the same fat-laden diet without resveratrol.
“After six months, resveratrol essentially prevented most of the negative effects of the high calorie diet in mice,” researcher Rafael de Cabo, PhD, of the National Institute on Aging’s Laboratory of Experimental Gerontology, Aging, Metabolism, and Nutrition Unit, says in a news release.
Resveratrol is one of a group of antioxidant compounds called polyphenols found in grapes and red wine, as well as in other plants, such as peanuts and blueberries. It has been reported to have anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties and is being studied for a variety of pharmaceutical uses.

Weather:
We did get some snow last night, when I got up there was a very wet snow coming down, snow was sliding off the roof making a real racket. I at first thought there might be a animal upstairs in one of the bedrooms, but it was actually the wet snow sliding off the roof. I did hear a tree break and fall to the ground.
I noticed only when I got to Oregon Rd was there any sign of snow. Otherwise the roads where clear. While this morning Short Rd had snow but by the time I got to Deer Park it was just rain.
Plantings:
none
Activities:
none - need to fill the water bottles to take up to the greenhouse.
Miscellaneous Notes & Observations:
Chickens gave me 3 eggs today. I think they like the covered barn with this snow, I did see chicken tracks in the snow near the coop.

Plantings:
None
Activities:
On Saturday, I bagged the twine in the barn. I burned the rest of the boxes we had accumulated over the summer. I also took down some posts that were creating a corral of sorts in the barn, it opens the barn area up. Easier for me to herd the chickens into the coop, which I really don’t have to do much anymore. There is still more cleanup to do but for now things are in pretty good shape.
Miscellaneous Notes & Observations:
I have sold 36 eggs this week. Still getting 3-4 eggs a day. I am looking forward to the younger chicks coming of age.
